Sometimes endings are really beginnings as they say and letting go after the end whether it is a friendship, marriage, job or otherwise can be tricky. New beginnings are full of hopes and dreams for what is to come but sometimes venturing in to new territory can be fraught with twists and turns but also sometimes very unexpected good “stuff”. When you make a meaningful connection that happens randomly it feels great for your soul and is filled with great expectations.
However, letting go, moving forward and opening yourself up can be scary but don’t let fear force you to move backwards. Most good things in life happen organically if they are meant to be such as friendships, jobs or romantic relationships. It is only in the breaking down of our “walls” that may make us vulnerable can we truly let go and let life happen. Sometimes that may feel raw and you may feel exposed or naked longing for cover to hide your scars. For some this is a process that takes time because staying closed off as you move forward has always been a mode or standard operating procedure & choosing to continue to function in that way will leave you emotionally lonely , misunderstood or unable to truly experience the beauty of connecting with another person in a meaningful way.
When you get to a certain age peeling back the layers every now and again can be very cathartic. I like to think of it like cleaning out your sock drawer or closet every now and again to get rid of the old things that just don’t fit anymore or maybe you have evolved in a way that the old ways don’t work. If you are feeling stuck it might be time to take this approach.

The real challenge is letting go of the harsh judgements we put on ourselves that are an impediment to growth. Letting go is also about letting go of the value we put on what others think that may negatively shape our thoughts or actions. We are all flawed in our own special ways but letting go of the barriers that inhibit our ability to move beyond those flaws is what keeps us moving, experiencing and reinventing who we are or aspire to become and ultimately move forward no matter where that path may lead. Nothing lasts forever which is good to remind ourselves of every now and again which can ultimately make it easier to let go of things in order to make room for what’s suppose to come next on our own individual journey. I like to think of it this way, if you continue to hold on to things you should be letting go of it makes it impossible to reach out for what you may really want or what is best for you.
