The Green House

The people, places and things that give us comfort are many but this year I owe a debt of gratitude to the green house. You have been my friend and shelter in the storms of this tumultuous year. You have been like a warm cozy blanket surrounding me with warmth and security from all of the storms that have blown my way and threatened to leave me naked and exposed.

Thank you for listening intently, guarding my innermost thoughts and protecting my most vulnerable moments. You have been a place of unfiltered emotional release and provided a safe calming place to lay my head with rest when the burden of this life felt like a ton of bricks on my back. You have shown me the splendor of my silent thoughts and been a place for soulful reflection providing a backdrop of the beauty of some of nature’s most precious gifts that include sunsets, animals in their natural environment untethered by the constraints of man’s self imposed rule along with countless other treasures.

Always welcoming and kind when compassion was sorely needed, the green house has become my close friend and ally helping me tackle the inevitable battles life sends our way. We will be forever connected with kindness and the love we have shown each other. The changing of the seasons have allowed both of us to appreciate the gentle hand of caretaking we both gave to each other. You have been and will continue to be my faithful friend.

When we are apart I miss your warmth but hasten my travels to return back to share my most mundane and treacherous accounts of daily living. Few places have taken such a hold of my heart as the green house and I am forever grateful we have found each other. I look forward to the many adventures ahead and memories you will hold dear in your halls, walls and doorways coming in and out as the years go by.

As the seasons of life change let it bring with it new stories to tell just inside your hospitable entry. Your beauty outside pales in comparison to the charms I have found within every room you offer. This home is where my heart is.
