Top 10 Favorite Movies.......

Who doesn’t love the convenience of streaming and bingeing on your favorite #Netflix series or #Hulu Series. I just finished #LittleFiresEverywhere” with #KerryWashington and #ReeseWitherspoon after having read the book last summer. It was amazing and did the book so much justice with these two amazing actresses and the rest of the cast.

However, the movie theater experience is a treat for many that still like the mystique of watching a new release on the big screen and for me an accopanying bucket of popcorn and a #DietCoke. This equals a great date night or #girlsnightout but I am never too bashful to catch a new flick by myself. Sometimes it just feels like a great escape.

I remember when the first “Sex and the City” movie was released it was a #girlfriends party and a much anticipated theater treat. Last weekend I actually convinced my two grown kids to sit down and watch a classic movie with me that neither of them had ever seen. One of my favorites but didn‘t make my top 10.

#AnimalHouse was the pick of the night and even though I have seen it a thousand times, it was fun to see them watch it for the first time. Todd (my hubby) actually saw it in the theater when it was originally released. Yep, he sure did!

It got us (mostly me) talking about our favorite movies of all time. So hard to pick just 10 but that‘s what makes it fun. I love asking this question to people too because it tells you a lot about their sense of humor (or lack of-ha ha), a little glimpse in to their personality and probably their age. These are The Pink Soapbox’s picks but it was a little agonizing to limit it to just 10.

  • #TheWayWeWere - Robert Redford & Barbara Streisand ...“Hubble your girl is lovely”

  • #LoveStory- Ali McGraw & Ryan O’Neill- Who can forget his cute nickname “Preppy”

  • #16Candles-Molly Ringwold ( Remember I said you can tell a lot about a person including age by their picks)

  • #FerrisBuehlersDayoff- Sloan, Ferris and Cameron living the life before adulting

  • #PulpFiction- John Travolta’s comeback movie and a Quentin Tarantino masterpiece

  • #ForrestGump- Turns out his mama was right “life is like a box of chocolates”

  • #Sideways-Paul Giamatti at his best

  • #MamaMia-Musical brought to the big screen based on the music by ABBA-Love Amanda Seyfried

The list could go on for days but it was a challenge I wanted to see if I pull off. As I wrote this I kept thinking ”but then there is....” (fill in the blank). Point is if you are a movie lover it is hard to pin yourself down.

My favorite theater ever is a little old school cinema in an area of town that shows mostly independent films. It is a special treat going to the #ManorTheater and I many times will request to go there for a birthday or Mother’s Day because inevitably they have something very worthwhile to see before it hits more mainstream theaters. I have had some great movie theater experiences there that were memorable not only for the movie itself but the unique ambiance that takes you back to the days of old #hollywood type glamour sitting in the plush seats. When the lights go down you can easily trick yourself into believing it is the 1950’s until the end of the show when the lights flicker back ending your trip back in time.
