Day in and day out we live our lives and go about our daily routines. But sometimes when we are busy or in a crisis or even contemplating a big change something happens that turns our world upside down when we least expect it. Sometimes it is as simple as watching a movie and hearing a phrase that you swear is speaking directly to you with what is happening in your life. Has this ever happened to you? It may move you to action, complete a picture or make sense of a recent or past event in your life. The same can go for a book, podcast or a simple quote from a respected source.

At different times in my life this has happened at what seemed to be a pivotal time. I remember years ago after going through a tough divorce thinking about the “teachers” that came through my life. These teachers allowed me to understand where I needed to go and the direction I needed to explore. Not all of these teachers brought good vibes to my life. Some made me realize some hard truths and others sprinkled fairy dust showing me the beauty of simple acts of kindness.
The fact is some were just passing through but taught me some valuable lessons. I cleaned house after that time period and got rid of the ones that did stick around but were toxic or just plain too negative for my new outlook. When others want to bring you down it is our job to evaluate their purpose in our lives or lack of one as well. It may be time to cut ties and move on. You will know when that time is if you are practicing self awareness and care.
We really do move through different seasons in our lives and for good reason. We are not the same in our 40s as our 50’ or 30’s and so on. We evolve , change, grow , explore, examine, discover and reflect all of which change who we become and the people that show up or situations that we least expect (good or bad) may sometimes be the catalyst that allows us to authentically challenge ourselves to learn something new. Ultimately, it enables us to move to the next season of our lives and for that we must be grateful. Some of the least expected experiences or people that entered my life , even if they were not meant to stay, changed the course I was on and that was a very very good thing,
