Everyday we have a new opportunity to admire and adore those in our lives or the glow of a full moon and the beauty of the sunset. We walk around each day with our ”to do” lists scrambling to find our way through the muck worrying about the mortgage, how our 401K did today on the stock market or the money we need to pay for next semesters‘ tuition. Maybe we have already started thinking about how we will put presents under the tree at the holidays or if we can afford to take another vacation just like we always do . Then there are things we see as we look around the house that need to be repaired, replaced or given away.

I say STOP!! Take a breath. I know we think it is, but its not about the money it’s about all the other things. The cliche’s are true whether we like it or not...... Live for today, You can’t take it with you, Better to give than receive, You really don’t need as much stuff as you think, Experiences over possessions, Happiness is an inside job, Peace comes from letting go , We really never have control, Bloom where you are planted, Love is the answer and so on and so on and so on.
Most of the true joy we get is not from the size of our house , the zip code we live in, the possessions we covet, the car we drive or the clubs we belong to. Joy comes from connecting in a profound way to other people and experiencing life with those that are special and value us. A lot of times it is our family or friends that are really more like family even though our DNA may not be connected. It comes from sipping a simple cup of coffee on the porch where you are fortunate enough to have a roof over your head and the warm hug of your child greeting you in the morning.
It is also about taking down the walls and exposing yourself for all the world to see in all its glory and beauty with dignity as well as grace. It’s about being proud of your special journey in this life that looks like no one else’s whether you have had wanderlust and bounced around or stayed put in the quiet comfort of a town you have lived in all your life. Maybe your life looks more like a stained glass window with parts and pieces scattered around in no particular pattern. That IS Ok......Love your life no matter what it looks like.
It’s about taking a chance and embracing whatever outcome or lesson it was that you were suppose to experience or learn. It’s about putting yourself out there even if the outcome was not what you expected, bad or good. It’s about choosing to let go of the power of money, stuff, expectations, control and attachments in exchange for the peace of mind that you are right where you should be and no matter your circumstances you are loved, special and nothing in the world can compare to having that confidence and perspective.
No amount of money can help you feel peace in chaos or the calmness that comes from inner strength when uncertainty, loose ends and deception are all around you. Take some time to think what you would do or how you would be or where you might go if you took down all of your walls, quieted your insecurities and shut down your fears every single day the minute you wake up. Acceptance of what is in front of you today instead of fighting it is hard but so powerful.
Remember to just let it be because it is one step on the journey to the next place your are going. Never mind that you don’t know where that is. Be blissful and let it unfold like a kid at Christmas anticipating what Santa left under the tree.
Always believe that something great is about to happen no matter what life served up the day, week, month, year or even decade before......
